Katie Abraham became the Executive Director of the Michigan Municipal Electric Association (MMEA) in March of 2019. MMEA is Michigan’s trade group for 40 municipally owned electric utilities. As Executive Director, Katie educates MMEA members on compliance with state and federal laws, bills, regulatory orders, and rules. She also informs members of state and federal law-making bodies on the effects their actions may have on MMEA members and customers.


Mrs. Abraham came to the MMEA from the American Petroleum Institute (API) where she served as Associate Director. Prior to working for API, Abraham worked in the Michigan House of Representatives Policy Office where she covered energy and environmental legislation.


She has a J.D. and Masters in Environmental Law and Policy from Vermont Law School, and a B.A. from Kalamazoo College. Katie resides in Brighton, Michigan with her husband Ross and daughter Elizabeth.
