Julie Lyons Bricker is the previous Executive Director for Michigan Interfaith Power & Light (Michigan IPL). She was involved with Michigan IPL since early 2007 and has engaged in various roles, including the Board Treasurer, within the non-profit organization. During her tenure as the Executive Director, she facilitated an organizational turn-around by increasing membership, expanding outreach, and acquiring funding networks.

Julie is also a member of the US Green Building Council-Detroit Chapter. Since 2007, she has had the opportunity to participate as a USGBC-Detroit Board Member, Board Treasurer, Mid-west Regional Rep., and Faith Based Liaison to the Community Outreach work group. Julie is a graduate of the Michigan Technological University Bachelor of Science-Forestry program. She holds a LEED AP® O+M designation and a Michigan Real Estate Broker’s License.

Her expertise is in program and project management for energy efficiency upgrade implementation. In 2011, she managed a utility funded program for 48 buildings in SE Michigan, in which the buildings were assessed, benchmarked, and had EE upgrade products installed. The estimated annual savings for this project was 9-14%. She is also well versed in the creation and maintenance of ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager Benchmarking accounts and has assisted many houses of worship to earn the EPA ENERGY STAR® Building Certificate. (Michigan is the national leader for the number of certified ENERGY STAR® Certified Worship Facilities).

She is proud to have worked with so many diverse organizations over the years who are motivated to engage in various sustainability practices, particularly with participants who continue to pursue additional improvements on their own, like more complex efficiency applications, renewables installation, and ENERGY STAR® or LEED® certifications. She currently contracts to organizations as a Sr. Project Manager for energy efficiency work, is studying for the PMP designation, volunteers at a number of organizations, including on the Governor’s Energy Excellence Awards’ Steering Committee, and looks forward to participating in many more Michigan based efficiency and renewable projects.
